Dr Callan Gavaghan

BSc MD FRACP

Dr Callan Gavaghan is a skilled Consultant Cardiologist with a specialisation in cardiac imaging. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology and has extensive experience in advanced cardiology practice across several major hospitals in Australia. Dr Gavaghan completed his Doctor of Medicine at Griffith University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland. He underwent Cardiology training at the Princess Alexanda Hospital, Brisbane, before completing a multi-modality cardiac imaging fellowship at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, where he gained extensive experience in cardiac CT and stress echocardiography, in addition to transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. Dr Gavaghan is currently practising as a Consultant Cardiologist at Redlands Hospital, St Andrews Ipswich Private Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital in Queensland, where he provides comprehensive cardiac care to patients.

With a research background focused on valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and cardiovascular risk prediction, Dr Gavaghan has contributed to several high-impact publications and conferences, both nationally and internationally. His work has advanced understanding in areas such as non-ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy and genetic markers of coronary artery disease severity.
